Simple Port Forwarding

February 12, 2009 Leave a comment

When we need to connect to a network, through a router, to have Internet access, sometimes we need to configure port forwarding for gaming or use Telnet. In some router is annoying to do that.

If you don’t like to do it manually try Simple Port Forwarding.

Simple Port Forwarding  tries to configure port forwarding automatically. Currently supports approximately 197 different routers.

All you need to do is pick the router from the list and enter his IP Address,  username and password which are used to connect to the Admin area.

It comes with a database of 677 programs that can be automatically added, but you can add more manually 😀

Protecting your Network

December 11, 2008 Leave a comment

Nowadays we need to have more careful with security questions.

Our PCs are a easy prey for those who have the “dark knowledge”, for example, Hackers.

To have a protected Network you have some expensive commercial options or you can use Smoothwall 😀

SmoothWall  is an open source firewall distribution with a lot of features, for instance :

  • Stateful inspection
  • Dynamic and Static NAT
  • Session Initiation Protocol
  • DNS
  • DHCP
  • VPN features

If you have an old PC make your network more protected against “evils” 😀
